In the 1990s, I tried my hand at writing for children—with modest success. I had games and puzzles published in Highlights magazine (yes, the one in the dentist’s office). My non-fiction articles, including a historical piece about Clara Schumann’s piano debut, appeared in Cricket and Hopscotch. I’ve played around with an idea for a children’s book for a long time, but haven’t yet managed to produce a draft.
Being a librarian, I have written countless book reviews, compiled my share of annotated bibliographies, and done quite a lot of indexing.
I’ve even composed a couple of poems. This one received an Honorable Mention in the 2014 SLO Nightwriters’ annual Golden Quill contest.
